SMILES have been put on the faces of poorly youngsters on children’s wards at Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke’s Hospitals.

Teddy bears, games and pencil cases were collected by the Hamara Community Centre in Leeds, whose members organised a collection as part of their Ramadan celebrations.

Jane Campbell from the Bradford Hospitals’ Children’s Charity, which passed the gifts out to patients at the hospitals in Duckworth lane, Bradford said the donations had really cheered up the youngsters.

She added: “It’s a lovely gesture to bring so many toys and such happiness to the children.”

Bradford Hospitals’ Children’s Charity aims to make the experience of having an ill baby or child as good as it can be, by improving care and facilities above what the hospital can provide, including buying equipment, parent facilities and enhancing children’s wards.
