7:16pm Saturday 26th April 2008

One of the most popular steam locomotives operating on the national network is making a return visit to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.

The Great Marquess will be taking part in the railway's 40th anniversary steam gala from June 27-29.

As part of the event the K&WVR is planning to operate direct, through steam train services on to the main national network at Keighley and then to Skipton and Hellifield for the first time.

There is also a Saturday evening steam train from Keighley to Blea Moor, over the legendary Ribblehead Viaduct on the Settle-Carlisle line, which is already fully booked.

It is expected that 11 steam locos will be involved in operating services that weekend.

Other attractions will include an outdoor religious service, cinema screenings of The Railway Children, an exhibition and mini beer festival.
