A SHED is just the thing for a South Craven theatre group after it received cash from a local car dealership.

Just Motors of Cross Hills gave £399 to Sutton’s Green Hut Theatre Company to buy a shed to store materials for its performances.

The 90-year-old group needed extra space because its rehearsal hut is bursting at the seams with costumes, props and scenery.

Children and adults have to practice their songs, dances and scripts surrounded by piles of tables, chairs and equipment.

A Green Hut spokesman said the garden shed – which will be built alongside the main building – will relieve pressure in the main room which is used throughout the year to rehearse pantomimes, plays and musicals.

He added: “We also have a growing youth theatre and there isn’t always enough space for everything we want to do with the young people.”

Just Motor Group, which runs the Citroen dealership in Cross Hills, give the ground through its Community Support Scheme.

The company gives grants to local charities and not-for-profit organisations of between £100 and £500 for their work in Cross Hills and surrounding areas.

The Green Hut Theatre Company will present TV sitcom adaptation Vicar of Dibley 2 on September 7 and 8, at Sutton Village Hall. Call 01535 632289 to book tickets.
