A GIRL Guiding volunteer from Keighley has been chosen to go to the World Scout Jamboree in the USA.

Janet Baldwin, a healthcare assistant at Airedale Hospital, will be part of the International Service Team for the UK during next year’s Jamboree in West Virginia.

Janet will be helping Scouts and Guides develop what they already know, and learn new skills such as leadership.

As part of the opportunity, Janet will be holding fundraising events to fund her trip, and would welcome donations.

The 24th World Scout Jamboree is being organised with the aim of bringing together Scouts from around the entire globe to experience new adventures, cultures, and friendships.

The 12-day educational event will encourage the young people to promote peace and mutual understanding, with activities such as the Global Development Village, the World Scout Centre, a special sustainability initiative.

The Jamboree, organised by the World Organization of the Scout Movement, is aimed at young people aged 14 to 17.

Anyone wishing to support Janet’s fundraising should email janetbaldwin30@hotmail.co.uk.
