RESIDENTS in Braithwaite and Guardhouse were this week told how to keep their children safe.

Children’s Year of Safety leaflets and stickers were due to be given out on Wednesday (July 18) by members of the Braithwaite and Guardhouse Partnership.

The partnership includes local councillors, faith groups, Bradford Council’s Area Coordinators Office, and staff and pupils from the estate’s Our Lady of Victories Primary School and Merlin Top Academy.

Partnership members planned to meet at the Academy, on Braithwaite Avenue, then go into the community delivering a safeguarding message before the summer holidays began.

The leaflet and bin stickers call on everyone to play their part in keeping children safe, and inform adults how they can help a child they may have concerns about.

Cllr Adrian Farley, Bradford Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children and Families, said the campaign aims to make sure all children were safe from harm or exploitation.

He added: “We want everyone to know that it is okay to report a suspicion if they are worried about a child and that they don’t have to give their details.”

“The leaflet and bin sticker provide details of who the relevant people are to contact if you have any worries.

“Safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility. We all need to play our part. It’s great to see this initiative bringing parents, schools and community organisations together to help deliver an innovative campaign to keep children safe.”
