A KEIGHLEY foodbank should receive a boost from a charity event being staged at a local supermarket next Thursday. (July 19)

Teenagers taking part in the National Citizenship Service project will hold a fundraiser at Keighley Asda from 11am to 3.30pm, in aid of the Living Lights Christian Outreach foodbank.

The foodbank is based in Church of Nazarene, in Oakworth Road.

Josh Carver, 16, one of the teenagers who will hold the event, explained: "We'll be asking people for donations of food, toiletries or cash, and there will also be 'guess the name of the teddy' and 'guess how many sweets in the jar' games.

"We'll either be in the Asda lobby or outside, depending on the weather, and we just want as many people as possible to come and support what is a great charity."

Living Lights was founded in 2012 by Patrick and Elizabeth McDonnell. As well as its mobile food bank, the charity also runs a home visit service and drop-in centre to support people who are in poverty or going through a crisis.
