A HAWORTH cafe will host a launch of children's novels about one of England's most controversial kings.

The Order of the White Boar and The King’s Man have both been written by Cross Roads resident Carol Fellingham Webb, who uses the pen name Alex Marchant.

She will be signing copies of the books at Cobbles & Clay, in Haworth's Main Street, from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday June 30.

Her books tell the story of King Richard III through the eyes of Matthew Wansford, a young page in his service.

They were launched nationally earlier this month at the King Richard III Visitor Centre in Leicester, where the monarch's grave was rediscovered in 2012.

Ms Fellingham Webb, who trained as an archaeologist, said she had written the books over a period of almost five years to appeal to boys and girls aged 10 and older, though she noted the novels have also been enjoyed by adults of all ages.

She added: "The books together narrate the crucial final three years in the life of the historical King Richard, sweeping across England from Middleham Castle in the Yorkshire Dales, to the royal court in Westminster to the dramatic and deadly final battle on the green fields of Leicestershire."

The Order of the White Boar and The King’s Man are available online through Amazon at myBook.to/WhiteBoar and mybook.to/TheKingsMan

They can also be ordered through all good bookshops, including Waterstones.
