AN East Morton firm has given a boost to Manorlands.

Race timing and organising company, Even Splits, has donated £5,127 to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

The money was raised at the Vale of York Half Marathon last September, which attracted nearly 2,000 runners.

A team of volunteers – mainly drawn from the Manorlands Riddlesden support group – helped with tasks such as registration, manning water stations, handing-out goody bags and T-shirts and tidying-up afterwards.

A cheque was handed over on the day of the Manorlands Keighley BigK 10K, at which Even Splits was organising the timing.

The donation was accepted on behalf of the hospice by Keighley Cougars ambassador, Garry Schofield.

Martin Browne, from Even Splits, said: "We appreciated the help that Sue Ryder supporters gave on the day of the half-marathon and it was a pleasure to be able to hand over such a large amount to a worthy local cause."

The donation was welcomed by Andrew Wood, the Sue Ryder lead for the event.

He said: "This will make such a difference to the families we are caring for, both within the walls of the hospice and out in our vast catchment area through the community nursing team.

"We are looking forward to rallying Manorlands supporters again to help this year, when the race takes place on September 9."
