A DISTINCTIVE-looking dog has helped Kildwick children learn about the importance of ‘bagging and binning it’.

Winnie the Pug and her owner Laura went along to Kildwick Primary School to talk to pupils about how they could be responsible pet owners.

Craven District Council dog wardens accompanied Laura to introduce a competition to tackle the issue of dog fouling.

Children have been invited to create short films, animations and PowerPoints about the issue, which they will then share on social media.

Prizes will be on offer for the winning video and the council hopes that this initiative will keep the streets of Craven clean.

Winnie, Laura and the dog wardens have visited several schools across Craven, including Cowling and Lothersdale primaries, to highlight the environmental impact of dog dirt and importance of using a ‘poop scoop’.
