Building to be celebrated

Celebrations marking 100 years of Ilkley's Town Hall and King's Hall complex get underway tomorrow.

Celebrities including bestselling author Jilly Cooper and jazz legends Cleo Laine and Johnny Dankworth will help mark the centenary of the town's most influential public buildings this weekend.

Big events include a concert by award-winning brass band the Black Dyke Band tomorrow night, an official centenary celebration with special guests and entertainment on Friday night, and a jazz concert on Saturday night.

Residents can to take a close look at the public hall and learn more about their heritage at a three-day exhibition in the Winter Garden.

They can also buy a commemorative brochure which is on sale at the Tourist Information Centre, King's Hall and Ilkley Library.

The council chamber in Ilkley Town Hall will also be open to the public from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, to give residents a closer look at the corridors of local government.
