THE Bromley Boys, a film based on book by Menston author Dave Roberts and starring Martine McCutcheon and Alan Davies is playing at Vue Cinema in Leeds on Wednesday, June 27 at 7pm.

Audience feedback from both the premiere and other preview screenings around the country has given hugely positive reactions, and created a real ‘want-to-see’ buzz. Previewing to over 1200 Sky VIP customers the film received a received 89 per cent ‘recommendation to a friend’ and a further 71 per cent stating the film was Good/Excellent – many stating it was one of the best British comedies ever made.

TJ Herbert producer for The Bromley Boys said: “The response to the film has been incredible. Given we don’t hold the might or spending power of the major studios we are somewhat reliant on the public spreading the word - allowing the film to grow organically. We can see people are really starting to get behind the film which is fantastic.”

Many of the reviews so far have applauded young ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Brenock O’Connor as a major star-in-the making, including The Times, saying..”a winning turn from its remarkable teen star Brenock O’Connor”.

Inspired by the acclaimed book The Bromley Boys by Dave Roberts, the film tells the story of the author as a 15-year-old and his passion for the worst football team in Britain: Bromley FC. Set on the cusp of the 1970s and played out to the nostalgic sights and sounds of the era, including the music, wide collars and dubious moustaches, the film captures the lengths to which a devoted fan will go to save his beloved football club, and the difficulties thrown up when your first love turns out to be the belligerent club chairman’s daughter. The Bromley Boys is a story of the underdog coming good, of first love and the beautiful awkwardness that goes with it.

The film is playing all over the country, in selected cinemas throughout June and July. Watch the trailer and book tickets, by visiting the website: http://www.thebromleyboys.com
