ORTHOPAEDIC registrar Adelle Jenkins will bowl over competing cricketers at a charity match next month.

The 33-year-old who works at Bradford Royal Infirmary is the only woman-member of the West Yorkshire-wide registrar team who will be taking on a team of the region's consultants at a match on Saturday, July 1 at Glen Road Cricket Field in Headingley.

Dr Jenkins, who played the sport at school and then at Leeds University, will be helping raise funds for St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds.

The Orthopaedic Network has sponsored the event paying for the pitch, refreshments and entertainment for the children which means all the money donated will go straight to the hospice.

The event will start from 10am with the game scheduled to begin at 11am. The majority of the registrar team are based at Bradford Royal Infirmary and Dr Jenkins hopes the event will attract a lot of support from the public as well as patients.

"It's a wonderful cause that we are supporting. St Gemma's deserves all the help we can give. We hope the weather will be good to us for the match and we get a good turnout to help us raise lots of money," she said.

As well as turning up on the day, donations can be made via st-gemma.co.uk/onlinedonation

It costs £9million a year to keep the hospice running.
