HEALTHWATCH Bradford has been celebrating award success by throwing a thank you party.

The organisation, which aims to give communities a stronger voice to influence how health and social care services are provided in the district, earlier this year scooped two highly commended awards at the national Healthwatch Network Conference in Manchester.

In recognition of the help it gets from volunteers and local People First organisations, Healthwatch Bradford organised an event yesterday at Cottingley Cornerstone in Littlelands, Bingley.

The Healthwatch team had received its awards in the diversity and inclusion category for its work involving people with learning disabilities and the second was for its joint work with other West Yorkshire Healthwatch teams on access to dental services.

A spokesman for the independent organisation said the success of its work with people with learning disabilities was down to a strong partnership with local People First organisations and to the enthusiasm and commitment of volunteers.

He added that the fun celebration was to recognise the difference it makes in giving people with learning disabilities a stronger voice on health and social care services.
