ELECTRONIC prescribing and discharge is being rolled out across one of the district's hospitals after a successful pilot.

Since it went live earlier this year, the system being used at Airedale General Hospital has enabled clinicians to immediately share patient records and access drug charts.

It has also led to discharge notifications for the majority of patients being sent to GP practices within seconds.

The so-called SystemOne is also used by other care providers, such as community nurses and homes, allowing professionals to view medication prescribed during a patient's admission.

David Worth, programme manager for digital care at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, explained the benefits of the system.

He said: "Our health community is among the three national accelerator sites for the delivery of one of the first fully integrated digital health and social care records, which we have achieved through working with our technical provider TPP.

"Our aim is to improve patient care and the experience of those using services within Airedale Hospital and across the wider care community."
