AN AMBULANCE service manager responsible for teaching lifesaving first aid techniques to thousands of Yorkshire schoolchildren is planning more work in the same field.
Jason Carlyon is clinical development manager with Yorkshire Ambulance Service in North Yorkshire and was behind an award-winning scheme to teach cardio pulmonary resuscitation to 11,800 secondary school pupils.
That led to him attending the Seoul Citizen CPR Festival in South Korea, which is a world leading state in using CPR to help improve survival chances for heart attack victims.
As a result of this, he is now working on fresh plans to improve cardiac arrest survival rates across the service area.
He said: “Providing CPR training is a critical element in the chain of survival and I have brought back some ideas which will bring about demonstrable improvements in cardiac arrest survival rates.
“It was such a fascinating conference.”
