PHARMACIST Mel Leakey at the Farrow Pharmacy in Otley Road, Undercliffe, is helping promote a national NHS campaign urging older people not to store up health problems if feeling under the weather this winter.

Posters getting the health message across will be up at pharmacies and other community venues as well as GP surgeries.

Adverts will also be on the radio and appearing in magazines and newspapers.

Every year the NHS sees a huge increase in numbers of emergency admissions to hospital over the colder months so the campaign is encouraging over 60s to nip health problems in the bud by seek early advice from their local pharmacist.

Dr Andy Withers, clinical chairman of Bradford Districts Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Older people often don’t seek advice for wheezes, coughs and sneezes because they don’t think it’s serious enough and they don’t want to waste anyone’s time. We want to get the message across that local pharmacists are highly trained and will be pleased to give expert advice.”
