JORDAN HOSTY

Jordan has attended and participated in Youth Service meetings at Shipley Town Hall on behalf of his peers at Wilsden Youth Centre, in order to seek funding for the football/sports pitch which is in need of repair.

He has helped to win several thousands of pounds of funding from local grants, and has become the voice of young people trying to repair the facility and make it safe for use by young people and their families.

Jordan has organised and become captain of the Wilsden Youth Centre football team, supporting and developing other young people to play together as a team.

The club has taken part in various competitions across the district, including a tournament to celebrate Black History Month.

Shipley Area Coordinator Damian Fisher, who nominated Jordan, said: "He has matured into a very pleasant and positive young man, who is passionate about his goal.

"With support from Bradford Youth Service and staff at Wilsden Youth Centre, he has begun to reach his potential and has become the role model for other young people to aspire to.

"Jordan has encouraged many young people to participate in sport and divert their behaviour away from crime and other anti-social activities.

"He has been, and is, an amazing young person to work with, and it is hoped that with the continued support of his youth worker he will become the voice of Bradford."

KASAM HUSSAIN

Kasam is a key member of the Alpha United Juniors Football Club in Bradford, acting as coach and mentor for the under-14 and under-16 teams.

The club was established in the BD7 area due to a lack of local sides for youngsters to play in, and the demand for places has been described as "overwhelming."

Kasam, who is 18, runs training sessions for three hours on a Saturday and on an ad-hoc basis on a Sunday, progressing the training to ensure the youngsters develop their skills.

He has recently set up a template to analyse all the players in his squads, allowing him to assess the specific strengths and weaknesses of the teams.

Mohammed Waheed, who nominated Kasam, said: "He is relentless in his proactivity and has been a shining light that has helped make this project a success.

"Kasam has a great appetite to help others and provide opportunities that weren’t necessarily open to him when he was younger.

"Even though he is a teenager himself, his maturity is beyond his age and is why he has become a leader.

"Kasam has fantastic patience and perseverance, which is a great asset when working with juniors.

"He has had a great influence on a new community project, and really moved the group forward, acting as a focal point for the club."

MEGAN CARSON

Megan has volunteered at the Baildon Community Link youth club for almost two years, helping to run all aspects of the club.

She has also given up her time to support various special events, including running some of the group's half-term activities.

Megan also helps out in a voluntary capacity at Saltaire Arts Trail through Titus Salt School, where she is a pupil, running craft activities for young people.

For the past three years, Megan has also been writing a magazine with a friend from school highlighting positive things going on in Bradford.

Damian Fisher, Shipley Area Coordinator, nominated Megan and said: "The magazine is called The Local Leader and the whole point of it is that it publishes positive news.

"Megan gets the magazine professionally printed, paying for the printing through the inclusion of adverts for small, independent businesses, in return for a small charge.

"The magazine is then made available in shops to spread the positive news."
