LABOUR grandee Hilary Benn was on the campaign trail in Bradford yesterday.
The shadow cabinet member went out canvassing in Bradford West along with his party's candidate for the seat, Naz Shah.
Ms Shah said the visit had gone "really well", despite the wet weather.
She said: "He was really pleased to be here and to me, it meant a lot."
Mr Benn, shadow secretary for communities and local government, is the latest high-profile Labour figure to go to Bradford West in the run-up to the election, following visits from Ken Livingstone, Keith Vaz and Ed Miliband's wife Justine among others.
The party has made Bradford West a target seat this year, despite the huge majority secured by Respect leader George Galloway in the 2012 by-election.
Ms Shah said: "It sends a really clear message about how serious the Labour Party are about the seat."
Also standing in Bradford West are Harry Boota (Ukip), George Grant (Conservatives), Alun Griffiths (Liberal Democrats), Celia Hickson (Green), Therese Hirst (English Democrats) and James Kirkcaldy (Independent).
