DUANE Darby will turn to a West Bromwich Albion cult-hero to help Cradley Town shoot down the West Midlands Premier League leaders.

The Hammers host top-of-the-table Lye Town in a derby clash at Beeches View Avenue on Saturday.

And to help, Darby has enlisted the help of friend and former Albion defender Darren Moore, nicknamed Big Dave by fans during his popular spell at the Hawthorns.

The pair played together at Torquay United before moving at the same time to Doncaster Rovers and have remained close friends.

Darby believes the presence of Moore, who was recently sacked as first team coach at Blackburn Rovers, will give his players a boost.

He said: “I have asked him to come down and he should be letting me know on Friday but it’s looking good.

“He’ll be involved in the warm-up and will speak to the players at half-time and full-time, I’m hoping he will be able to put a different view on things and it will be nice to have another voice there.

“Some of the players are big Albion fans and it will be nice for them to get advice off someone who has played at the top level.”

Cradley first head to Bromyard Town tonight, where they will be hoping to end a run of four straight defeats following Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Wolverhampton Sporting Community.

Darby was encouraged by a strong turnout at training on Tuesday night but says it is time Cradley’s good team spirit began translating into results.

He said: “It’s no good to keep on talking about it, at some stage we are going to have to win some games.

“It will be interesting to see how the things we talked about in training are carried into the games.

“For the first time I was able to physically demonstrate what I want.”

In the Midland Alliance, Causeway United continue to edge towards safety following two successive draws.

Andy Mole’s side drew 0-0 with Coleshill Town last Saturday and then 1-1 with Alvechurch on Tuesday.

They are back in action tonight when they host Rocester, before entertaining Dunkirk on Saturday, ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Kirby Muxloe.
