A BRADFORD MP has again pressed the Government on when it will announce the results of a consultation on increasing sentences for those convicted of dangerous driving.

Judith Cummins, Labour MP for Bradford South, raised the issue with the leader of the House of Commons, Andrea Leadsom MP, prior to the parliamentary recess.

She said: “Dangerous driving is a blight on the roads of my constituency. The consultation of the Ministry of Justice on strengthening the punishment for drivers who kill or seriously injure others on our roads closed on February 1.

“Is the Leader of the House aware of when the outcome of that consultation will be published? Will she commit to making parliamentary time available to debate that important matter?”

In reply, Mrs Leadsom said: “I will look into when we can expect to see a response.”
