CAMPAIGNERS are calling for traffic-calming measures to be introduced on a “horrendous” road for speeding in Bradford.

Police officers armed with speed guns were in Midland Road, next to Bradford City’s Valley Parade stadium, yesterday for a crackdown on drivers who go too fast.

During the three-hour operation, eight drivers were caught breaking the 30mph speed limit. Police also seized five cars – four for having no MOT and one for the driver having no insurance.

The operation came after concerns were raised by local community groups about the standard of driving on the road.

Campaigners are also circulating a petition calling for traffic-calming measures in Midland Road, which will be given to Bradford Council.
