A TEENAGER from Bradford who hit a girl with a golf club during an argument has been given a community order.

Stephen Jackson, 18, of Kirkwall Drive, Holme Wood, who was 17 at the time of the offence, admitted assault.

The court heard that Jackson works as an apprentice bricklayer.

He was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court during a hearing yesterday.

He was given a 12-month community order, with 150 hours of unpaid work and a ten day rehabilitation activity requirement.

Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC said Jackson was confronted by an unpleasant incident of violence and argument between two girls but he should not have picked up the club and should not have hit the girl round the body.

But he had shown remorse, the court was told.

It was also noted that Jackson had pleaded guilty and the injury had not been serious.
