A SURVEYOR caught with almost £35,000 of illegally-gained cash at a flat where he was producing crack cocaine began taking drugs after he was slashed in the face needing 76 stitches, Bradford Crown Court heard.

University educated Abdul Aziz, 30, had his sentence further adjourned at Bradford Crown Court for psychological and probation reports.

Aziz was warned he faced a prison sentence when he pleaded guilty last month to possession of cocaine and crack cocaine with intent to supply on April 19, 2016, producing crack cocaine and possession of £34,965 in cash as criminal property.

Aziz, of Lingwood Road, Girlington, Bradford, was in a flat and preparing the Class A drug under the control of others, the court was told.

Yesterday, his barrister, Kate Bissett, said he missed his last appointment with the probation service because he was ill.

Miss Bissett said Aziz was from a good family and had no previous convictions.

He began using drugs after he was slashed across the face and his assailant was not caught.

Aziz had been made ill working at the crack factory, said Miss Bissett.

"He was not in a good way when the police found him."

Judge David Hatton QC adjourned the case until February 24, extending Aziz's bail until that date.
