A 22-YEAR-OLD man has been spared an immediate jail sentence for growing an £8,000 cannabis crop.
Wojciech Wiktoruk was caught red-handed with 32 plants at his home in Washington Street, Girlington, Bradford, by a PCSO on August 13 last year.
Bradford Crown Court was told that he had turned two bedrooms at the property into a cannabis farm that could have yielded 1.64 kilos of skunk cannabis.
He pleaded guilty to production of cannabis and abstraction of electricity.
Wiktoruk was yesterday sentenced to eight months imprisonment, suspended for two years, with 180 hours of unpaid work. He must pay £250 towards the prosecution costs.
Judge Peter Benson said the defendant was a hard working man with a single previous conviction for shoplifting.
