With Bradford City’s £100,000 Burns Unit appeal standing at £11,000, a fundraising committee has been formed.
The 12 members include City’s joint chairman Mark Lawn and David Baldwin, the club’s operations director. Eight of them are pictured on the pitch at Valley Parade before City’s recent game against Crewe Alexandra.
Mr Baldwin said: “We’ll keep it at 12 unless others put themselves forward. We can go to a maximum of 15. Anyone who wants to join should contact me direct.
“The committee is a representative body of all the various supporters groups as well as Bradford City Ladies Football. The chairman, Sally Thackray, is going head-to-head with Mark Lawn on a sponsored slim – he’s lost 4lbs so far.
“A media company that does a lot of work for us, SMF Print, is also on the committee. They are contributing free of charge hundreds of money-boxes. These can be collected from the ground today, filled up with small change and returned to us.”
Sponsorship forms are available at the club’s reception for anyone who wants to set up their own fund-raising scheme.
That should really get the ball rolling for the Burns Unit appeal.
The 12 members are: Mark Neale, City Gent; Beverley Lotz, Supporters Trust; Steve Gorringe, Shipley Bantams; Wayne Walsh, West Yorkshire Fire Service; Jamie Fletcher, SMF Print; Terry Dickinson, Shelf Bantams; Sally Thackray, Bradford City Ladies; Colin Nesbitt, a supporter; Steve Hand, Aleah Casino, Leeds; Andy Hindle, White Abbey supporters branch; Mark Lawn, City chairman; and David Baldwin, City’s operations director.
Mr Baldwin can be contacted on davidbaldwin@the-bantams.co.uk.
