TELEGRAPH & Argus staff are limbering up to take to the streets of Bradford in support of our charity appeal.

We're appealing for 200 people to take on one of the City Runs courses in aid of the Telegraph & Argus Bradford Crocus Cancer Appeal.

The £1 million appeal - a joint fundraiser by the T&A, The University of Bradford, Yorkshire Cancer Research and the Sovereign Health Care Charitable Trust - is the official charity partner for this year's run and of per cent race entry fees

The appeal aims to raise enough money to buy a new machine for use by researchers at the university's Institute of Cancer Therapeutics to help te city's ground-breaking work to fight the disease.

This year's City Runs event, organised by Bradford Council and Bradford Athletics Network, is being hold on Sunday, October 26, and includes a children's one-mile race, a 5k, a 10 k and half-marathon.

The T&A 's squad is taking shape, with staff from various departments including finance, advertising and editorial signing up.

Charlotte Christensen, from the finance department who will be taking part in the 10k run, said: "I run every day and I'm doing this one for fun. Everybody knows somebody who has suffered from cancer. It affects everyone."

The T&A editor Perry Austin-Clarke said: "The T&A has been a huge supporter of cancer charities in Bradford for decades. Our current Crocus Appeal is the latest we are backing.

"I'm delighted that so many of our staff have volunteered to take part to raise funds for the appeal.

"I would ask as many other businesses in Bradford as possible to encourage their staff to take part for this incredible cause."

All City Runs routes start and finish in City Park and all of the roads will be closed to traffic, offering runners and spectators a unique city centre event.

More than 400 runners took part in last year's event and this year race organisers hope to recruit 1,000 entrants and we want 200 of them to run in aid of the Crocus Appeal.

Visit telegraphandargus.co.uk/cityruns to enter the race and tick the check box to say that you're running in aid of the Crocus Appeal.

Running fundraisers who sign up to compete in aid of the Crocus Appeal can receive physio massages and a post-race tea or coffee at the Turls Green in City Park.
