Youngsters at a Bradford primary school got their hands dirty to support the T&A Bradford Crocus Cancer Appeal.
Pupils at Foxhill Primary School in Queensbury visited Bradford University yesterday, where they planted crocus bulbs in its grounds to support our £1 million fundraising mission.
Children at the school are planning their own events to raise money towards buying the university’s scientists a mass spectrometer, which will allow them to study the role of proteins in cancer ten times faster than before.
The lilac autumn crocus is the symbol of our appeal and last month Blue Peter gardener Chris Collins helped with the planting of hundreds of bulbs that will eventually flower to create a large Crocus Appeal symbol in Bradford city centre.
The planting took place on a grass verge in City Park, and by springtime the symbol will be clear to anyone passing by on Prince’s Way.
