A DEPARTMENT store’s plans to expand have been approved by Bradford Council.
Earlier this year a planning application was submitted to build an extension to Living Islam Department Store, based in Rashid House on Westgate.
The business sells Asian and Middle Eastern products, and the application said that after branching out online, and recently adding new product ranges, it needs larger storage space closer to the main store. Its existing storage space is on Thornton Road.
Bradford Council has now approved the application for the extension, which will be build at the rear of the building.
Planning officers said: “The proposed extension has a modern appearance, which will add interest to the street scene
“The development would not be envisaged to impact the local highway network any greater than the existing arrangements.”
