A BRADFORD pub has re-opened after a six-figure refurbishment.

The Crown, on Great Horton Road, which is owned by Greene King, had a kitchen refit late last year after a fire gutted parts of the pub.

But the new investment has seen changes to the bar and outside areas, as well as a menu update.

The Crown’s new look aims to bring the premises up-to-date with the introduction of a lighter colour scheme, signature pieces of furniture and a completely refurbished and extended bar. Its alfresco dining patio area has also been improved, ready for the summer months.

General manager Laura Price said: “The Crown is at the heart of the Bradford community, so we are excited to be able to offer a place where locals can enjoy a drink or meal in enhanced surroundings.”

A spokesperson said the refurbishment was part of a wider movement by Greene King to improve their pubs across the country.

A further five jobs have been created at The Crown, which opened its doors again on Wednesday, April 25.

Local boxer Darren Tetley was on hand to try out the new offering, which includes a wider selection of local and national ales, as well as world beers.

Ms Price said: “The opening was a real success, with great feedback from guests on the delicious menu and the fantastic interior.

“We have lots of events planned for the near future, including live music.”

The response on social media was also positive.

One user on the pub’s Facebook page said: “The new Crown looks amazing. Well done to the building crew and Laura and her team. Great atmosphere, so friendly and welcoming.”

Another said: “It looks so homely. Laura, you’ve done an amazing job.”

The pub has also used the opportunity to enhance its burger range and announce some new deals.

The Crown’s Thursday quiz night is still running and a wide array of sports matches will be shown on the premises’ multiple screens, including on the newly-installed 65-inch TV.

Ms Price said: “We look forward to welcoming more guests in the coming weeks.”
