A BRADFORD-based recruitment firm has set a record turnover after hitting £150 million for the first time in the last year.

Specialist People Services, based in King’s Gate, off Canal Road, recorded revenues of £150 million for the financial year ending in March, up 10% from 2016/17.

The increase was driven by an increased demand for temporary labour in logistics and rail.

SPS is a diversified recruitment group, which owns Driver Hire Nationwide, Driver Hire Training, Driver Hire Australia, eServices, and ISS Labour, which provides staff for rail infrastructure.

All of the group’s businesses achieved growth in 2017/18, including a strong performance from Driver Hire Nationwide, which is the UK’s leading supplier of drivers and logistics staff.

It saw an eight per cent increase on the previous year due to increased demand for temporary drivers and contract wins with new clients.

Driver Hire Australia also saw sales almost double from the previous year to £12 million.

ISS Labour posted a turnover of £28 million, up 20 per cent from last year, driven by continued investment in rail infrastructure across the country.

Chris Chidley, chief executive of SPS, said: “This is the first time the group has passed the £150 million mark and it represents a real show of strength from our teams.
