ONE of the country’s biggest used car dealers has announced a major expansion at its West Yorkshire supersite in a move that is set to create more than 100 new jobs.

AvailableCar opened its site at the Capitol Boulevard Business Park in Morley, on the A650 Bradford Road next to the M62, in 2016.

For the group as a whole, turnover increased by 8.2 per cent to £304 million in the year to December, buoyed by sales of 6,648 vehicles at the West Yorkshire site. Sales overall were up by 11 per cent in marked contrast to the car market nationwide which saw a slump in new vehicle sales.

In the last quarter of 2017, AvailableCar purchased an additional 4.7 acres of land, next to the West Yorkshire site which is set to be re-developed into further car supermarket display space.

The expansion will take the whole site from 10.7 acres to 15.4 acres and the total number of cars on display will increase from 1,500 to more than 2,600 vehicles. The company’s ambitious plans will are also set to create more than 100 new jobs.

Graham Bell AvailableCar Chairman said: “West Yorkshire has been our largest site investment to-date and is our flagship supermarket for the AvailableCar brand. By expanding into such a large location and a new region, there was always an element of risk involved, however we are delighted with how the last two years have gone.”

Paul Arscott Operations Director added: “We currently have 130 Team members at Leeds and we would like to have 250 once the recruitment process is complete.”
