A KEIGHLEY BID scheme has helped its member businesses identify over £27,000 in savings.

The scheme, now in its sixth month, utilises specialist advisor Meercat Associates' buying power in representing over 100 Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) across the country.

BID pays for and manages the service, so there is no cost to members.

Savings have been achieved across areas including energy, merchant fees and telecommunications.

Among those who have benefited is Amici's restaurant, in East Parade, Keighley.

Owner, Nick Risidi, said: "We were very pleased with the service offered by Meercat and in a short space of time it had identified over £1,500 of savings on our behalf.

"I would recommend that other BID businesses give this scheme a try."

Paul Howard, Keighley BID manager, welcomed the success of the venture.

"We are delighted with the way the scheme is finding significant savings for our members and the simple process involved in identifying these," he said.

"As part of our commitment to make Keighley better for business, this free member service is proving popular.

"It takes the pressure off companies, leaving them free to concentrate on running their business."
