SHAKESPEARE, the Bronte sisters and two types of literary Potters make up the events of the final weekend of the Bradford Literature Festival.

The 10 day festival is coming to an end with a bumper weekend of activities aimed at book lovers of all ages.

Tomorrow Shipley based Q20 Theatre company will be holding a Beatrix Potter themed day in City Park, bringing to life the children’s author and illustrator’s most famous creations, such as Peter Rabbit and Mrs Tiggywinkle.

As well as the live performances, there will be workshops for children where they can make finger puppets and masks.

The Q20 actors will also perform key scenes from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the grounds of Bradford Cathedral.

And on the Sunday the theatre group will be bringing the world of JK Rowling’s boy wizard Harry Potter to the park.

Characters such as Harry and Dumbledore will mingle with Muggles and battle with Lucius Malfoy in a series of live shows.

There will also be broomstick making workshops and spell writing sessions.

On Saturday events for children include a mix of storytelling and magic by children’s author Nick Toczek in City Library and a Wimpy Kid show at the University of Bradford.

And on Sunday there will be an Arabian Nights themed theatre event in Kala Sangam.

Several events are planned around the work and life of the three Bronte sisters.

Bronte expert Juliet Barker will look at Elizabeth Gaskell’s biographies of the Bronte family while a panel of Bronte enthusiasts will look at Jane Eyre as a Feminist Manifesto at a discussion in the Midland Hotel on Saturday.

Mrs Akroyd is also leading a day long tour of local Bronte Heritage, from Thornton to Haworth, on Sunday.

Saturday will see Baroness Sayeeda Warsi present the premier of Open Bethlehem, a film by Palestinian director Leila Sansour, at Kala Sangam.

Today's festival highlights included an exhibition in the University of Bradford about the links between India’s textile industry and Bradford, and a panel featuring top LGBT artists discussing their work in the Stein Bierkeller.
