A young scientist will swap her white coat for trainers as she sets off on a charity walk to raise money for a condition which she hopes to help to cure.
Kate McAllister, 23, pictured, will take on the Three Peaks Walk with five colleagues in aid of Arthritis Research Campaign.
The six are researchers who work as part of a team at Manchester University's Epidemiology Unit, which has identified the genetic variant in a region on chromosome six, associated with rheumatoid arthritis.
Kate, of Bingley, said: "I organised this as a team-building exercise and to raise funds for the Arthritis Research Campaign, without which we could not do this research.
"We work well together and enjoy our research.
"It is a long haul job, but the results will make a huge difference to patients' lives one day.
"This is something extra, a special experience for us to remember, although it will be gruelling."
The team will put their best feet forward on Saturday.
