A woman in pyjamas, T-shirt and boots bit a man and punched another when drunk.

Carol Bradman bit Darren Grange when he tried to stop the 36-year-old hitting another man. She also lashed out with her fists and shouted obscenities in Rosslyn Grove, Haworth, after drinking two bottles of wine.

Bradman, of Duckling Pond Close, Haworth, lost her temper after smashing her car into two parked cars on the evening of November 17 last year.

Officers who arrested her found her at home. She begged police not to lock her up and her young son told officers: "Don't take my mummy away."

She was taken to Keighley police station and found to have more than twice the legal level of alcohol in her blood.

Mother-of-two Bradman denied two counts of damaging property at Bingley court yesterday and was found not guilty. She had earlier admitted two counts of common assault and of drink driving.

The court fined her £650, banned her from driving for 28 months and ordered her to pay £40 costs and £15 victim surcharge.

Sam Coates, 21, said he ran to the crash and saw a blonde woman in pink pyjamas who was swearing and kicking vehicles. He said Bradman's car was minus a wheel and at 45 degrees in the road and had hit a BMW and a Skoda.

Malcolm Chapman, 54, said he was woken by a loud bang. He saw Bradman take a swipe at Mr Coates and kick out at the BMW. His partner's son, Darren Grange, said in a statement he grabbed Bradman's wrists to stop her attacking Mr Coates and she bit his hand.

Bradman told magistrates her car skidded and she crashed. She had been frightened by people shouting and was in shock.

Nigel Jamieson, her solicitor, said she accepted she was in drink and there had been assaults but she was adamant she was not driving recklessly.
