Police will be out in force at allotments following a spate of burglaries.

They will be warning allotment-holders in Otley Road, Charlestown, Baildon to be on their guard. Members of the Baildon Neighbourhood Policing Team, who are investigating the crimes, will be passing on safety advice and gathering information about the thefts from the public, on Sunday between 10am and noon.

Baildon Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) Constable Alexis Towers said: "I would also like to take this opportunity to remind people that summer is approaching, so please check on the security of their own sheds and garages to ensure they do not become a victim of crime."

Information on shed security is available from the West Yorkshire Police website. The Baildon police contact point is open between 10am and 2pm on Monday and Wednesdays at the Wesley Centre, Newton Way, Baildon.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the NPT on (01274) 537456 or anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Don't let anything pop out Gentleman Jim or you will be in trouble.I think the statement of out in force will only be in respect of the rhubarb although I did see the Police helicopter over Baildon this morning.

And I can think of many more important ways they could be deployed. Will they be out in force to guard my petunias once they pop into view? Or another idea is, once burglars, thiefs bandits et al have been caught, why not try give them a sentence, not a suspended, or probabtion, if you're caught lifting things not belonging to you then a penalty fitting the crime should be in place. Either a custodial sentence, no exceptions, or the loss of a digit until you have no digits left to pick up things not belonging to you.

"Police will be out in force at allotments following a spate of burglaries"

Just how many is out in force to me it means at least a hundred but in reality I doubt if it means no more five.
