Police are investigating a spate of arson attacks on luxury cars after Keighley firecrews were called to blazing vehicles on two nights running.
Detectives are especially concerned by strikingly similar attacks on BMWs parked outside their owners’ homes which took place in the early hours of today and may be linked.
The first took place at around 1am after police were called to Devonshire Street by the fire service to a report of a BMW 5 series car on fire outside its owner’s terraced home.
Then the second incident took place at around 4am when officers were again called to another suspicious car fire - this time a burning BMW X5 on Malsis Road.
Again, the vehicle was parked in front of its owner’s home and it is believed the fire was also started deliberately.
Forensic enquiries are ongoing to determine the precise cause of the fires.
Detective Inspector Mark Long of Airedale and North Bradford CID, said: "We are investigating two arson attacks on BMW cars overnight in Keighley and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the offences or has information to come forward.
"Enquiries are at an early stage and we are keeping at open mind as to the circumstances of the incidents.
"Clearly this sort of dangerous behaviour is utterly unacceptable and I would ask anyone who has information to contact Airedale and North Bradford CID on 101.”
Police are also investigating any possible link with a third arson attack which took place at 4am yesterday when a car was deliberately torched in residential Granby Drive, Riddlesden.
