Police quell rumours of Bradford child abductions
4:36pm Friday 19th October 2012 in News
Police have moved to quell rumours on social networking sites of child abductions across Bradford district.
A police spokesman described as “incorrect” postings on Facebook and Twitter that someone in a white van had been snatching children from outside schools in Bradford and Shipley.
He confirmed that the force had received reports of a white transit van being driven “in a suspicious manner” in Bedale Road, Buttershaw, Bradford, at 4pm on Sunday.
However, he said: “There has been no suggestion that anyone has been directly approached by the occupants of the vehicle, nor of any offences which have occurred elsewhere in the district.”
Officers are currently reviewing CCTV which captured images of the white van.
Anyone with any information should contact police on the non emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.
