Vinnie with Tara Hare
A pint-sized calf born at a farm in Tong lis looking to become a record breaker.
The miniature calf, Vinnie, is believed to have been born last Tuesday when the owner of the farm was on holiday.
Despite being disowned by his mother at birth, the calf survived a night on his own before being brought in from the field by one of the workers on Wednesday morning.
At 48cm tall and 51cm long, owner Martin Hare, 51, of Lane End Farm, believes he’s the smallest Dexter calf he’s ever seen. He said: “A normal calf should be twice the size of Vinnie, maybe even bigger. We’ve been feeding him by bottle, but other than that he’s healthy and been running around full of energy.
“I’m going to do some inquiring. It’s worth checking to see whether he is one of the smallest around.”
Visitors will be able to go up to the farms shop at Lane End Farm, Tong, and have a look at Vinnie between noon and 2pm today.
