Fire rips through bedroom of Bradford flat

Police are investigating the cause of a blaze which ripped through the bedroom of a flat in Bradford last night.

Crews from Bradford fire station were called to reports of a fire at the first-floor maisonette on Weber Court, off Leeds Road, at around 11pm.

Fire investigation officers and police were at the scene last night and will return this morning to establish how the fire started.

Watch commander Richard Lightowler said no one was in the flat at the time.

“When we got there the whole bedroom was fully involved in fire and there were flames shooting out of the window.

“The bedroom was totally destroyed and the flat was smoke damaged to the rest of the first floor.

“It took us around ten minutes to get the fire under control, but we were there for three hours investigating the cause.”
