Dancers from the Northern Ballet have been inspiring youngsters at Springwood Primary School in Manningham.

Over the past few weeks, dancers have been at the school in Wood Street running workshops based around characters in Beauty & The Beast.

As a special treat children and their families have been invited to the opening night of the company’s production at the Alhambra on Wednesday, October 24, the day school breaks up for half-term and Eid.

PE teacher Luke Swift said: “It’s been a fantastic opportunity and amazing to see what the pupils have learned in such a short time.

“What’s normally classed as a middle-class only pursuit has made quite an impact on our school, the children have especially loved dancing to live music.”

What an incredible opportunity for these children and then their families to see what superb dancers the Northern Ballet are. I hope then something can be done on future ticket priceing so that the kindling of interest can be turned into long term enthusiasm.
