Akbar's boss to hold talks with Bradford Bulls over offer of cash help

A Bradford curry boss who pledged to give up to £150,000 to help return Bradford Bulls to financial stability has yet to make any arrangements with its new owners, it has been confirmed.
The Telegraph & Argus reported in July how a representative from Bradford restaurant chain Akbar’s said its manager Shabir Hussain was willing to give the Super League side between £25,000 and £50,000 “unconditionally” per year for the next three years after he left a consortium which was vying to save the club from administration.
New owner and rival restaurant boss Omar Khan last week told a crowd of around 500 supporters he had yet to hear from Akbar’s when asked about the comments during a fans’ forum at Odsal Stadium.
But last night, Dill Butt, corporate director at the restaurant chain, said there were still “creases” to be ironed out and a meeting would be held once the new outfit, which includes former Sports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe, had its new club structure fully in place.
“We are waiting and seeing what will transpire,” he added.
The offer of cash was made after Mr Hussain left the ABC consortium of Bradford businessmen, which had initially led the bidding when the club entered administration on June 26.
When he left the group, which failed to secure a deal for the club because of the conditions attached to its offer, his spokesman Mr Butt told the T&A he would donate between £25,000 and £50,000 a year to the club, with the final amount to be decided.
At the time Mr Butt said there were no “ulterior motives” with the ground or a commercial interest in the club, but the donation would be to help it get its “cash flow sorted”.
Mr Khan yesterday said the money would be “helpful” to the club, which has been forced to sacrifice a “sizeable” chunk of its £1.2 million central funding from the RFL as part of the deal which saw it awarded a 12-month probationary Super League licence.
He said: “It’s something the fans are asking about. We would love to give them publicity and to say they have made a donation towards the club.”

So omar takes over takes all the glory but still wants 150k that akbars originally were going to put up to save bulls, your on your own now omar so get on with it why should they give you the same money you paid for club and you get the glory ? Get sutcliffe to use odsal as his 2nd home.
Thanks Sheffield, just using it as reminder to an empty vessel.

“We’re not asking for shares or a place on the board of directors or anything like that. It’s just a donation.
“Bradford Bulls means a lot to a lot of people in Bradford.”
