A “three strikes” drug dealer has been jailed for five years and seven months.

Banaras Hussain, 31, who had a £13,000 drug debt from his own addiction, acted as a courier between those higher up the drugs chain and street sellers, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.

Hussain, of Scarborough Road, Bradford Road, Shipley , was stopped and searched in Shipley and found to be in possession of 66 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine. He had been acting as a drugs courier at least seven times a day for two months.

He pleaded guilty to possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply and two specimen charges of supplying the drugs.

The court heard he had previously served prison sentences on two occasions for drugs offences.
