The aftermath of the blaze at Uncle B's takeaway this evening
A major fire ripped through a popular takeaway restaurant near the centre of Bradford this afternoon.
The entire Uncle B’s pizza and fish and chip shop on Great Horton Road, next to Bradford University, was caught up in the blaze which started at about 2.25pm.
Eyewitnesses reported flames shooting out of the roof of the restaurant as firefighters battled to stop the blaze spreading to other shops in a small commerical area.
It is understood no-one was injured in the fire which needed crews from Bradford and Odsal stations to bring under control with four engines and aerial equipment.
Last night it was believed the fire had been almost contained within Uncle B’s, despite the roof being destroyed and substatial damage, although some people reported damage to the Subway shop next door.
