Meteor lights up the night sky above Bradford

Meteor lights up the night sky above Bradford Meteor lights up the night sky above Bradford

A passing meteor caused alarm to bewildered residents in Bradford as it hurtled across the sky last night.

Police in the district received a number of anxious calls from people who had spotted a bright light passing over them.

A police spokesman said the strange light was a meteor.

One resident who saw the meteor, said: “When it passed me it was green. It then turned white, and then orange and started to break up, but it was miles away by then. It was amazing.”

For once I actually had a good nights sleep, so I missed this near death experience.

Great pictures but sadly I was sound asleep. I reckon it was space junk. Those different colours represent the different elements burning up in the atmosphere. I just hope it wasn't a nuclear powered satellite spreading nuclear radiation all over Bradford, it'll give them another excuse to delay start on the Westfield project while the year-long decontamination process takes place. We've had every other excuse, why not radioactive contamination?

According to the Myan's, the world is supposed to end on the 21st December 2012.

Could this be the pre-curser to Armageddon hahaha!

Any way, I thought these days we had technology that tracked such things, how come no prior News mention it passing by?

Which would be scarey except that the Myans didn't know we would be adopting leap years with an extra day every 4 years. by the Mayern calander the world should have ended about August last year.

there's another non-story for the T&A to exagerate.

Caught the fire in the sky out of the corner of my eye as I was driving home off the motorway. I had to do a double take as it looked like a plane was breaking up. Then I wondered if I seen what I thought I saw ? or maybe it was fireworks ?. Great point about Bradford if it had been a meteor and it had hit the city centre nobody would have noticed. It would simply have buried itself in the bloody big hole thats already there!

It landed in the City centre, and caused 2 million pounds worth of improvements.

Got to watch cross cultural translations. An example which ties in nicely with this story is that Mir is the Russian word for world(Zemlya is Earth) and Mir reentered the Earth's atmosphere and thus "ended "11 years ago. Therefore it could also be argued "the World" has already ended.

The Mayans kept several different calendars, the one that ends on the 21st Dec. 2012 is known as the Mayan Longcount calendar, but it doesn't say anything about the world ending. It measures cycles of time, that the Mayans called Baktuns, and counts precessional cycles of almost 26,000 years. The one that ends on 21.12.2012 is the 13th Baktun, and it marks the end of the 5th Sun and the beginning of the 6th Sun. The theory is that these cycles of time are linked to the level of human consciousness on earth, which is also cyclical. In short it's marking the dawn of the New Age, in which the old patriarchal paradigm, and all it stands for (machismo, war, aggression, competition, materialism, etc.) is replaced by the Feminine attributes of consciousness. All systems and institutions that are based upon corruption, fear, greed and inequality must crumble in the wake of the New Age as they cannot withstand the finer, higher, energies that are now bombarding the planet, hence the current economic collapse and wars/natural disasters of recent decades. Hope that clears things up for you.

Well it is certainly an undeniable fact that those corrupt and outmoded institutions are now being seen to crumble as the corruption comes to the surface like some festering boil about to burst; MPs expenses scandal, phone-hacking, Banks and financial institutions, Religion, social disorder, wars, Tsunamis, earthquakes, climate change, etc. It's as plain as the nose on your face.
