This weekend will be momentous and memorable in equal measure for Albion Sports irrespective of any result.

Albion head to the north east to take on Esh Winning in the FA Vase and it will be their first involvement in an FA knockout competition at non-league level.

“It is our first ever FA Vase tie and another big step for our little club,” said excited Albion boss Kulwinder Sandhu.

“We have come a long way but this proves that we still have new experiences ahead of us. We are going up to County Durham and it will be a big day for our club.”

Albion have a proud history in the FA Sunday Cup from their days as a Sunday League side and they have played at Football League grounds in big games and cup finals. However, Sandhu feels the occasion rather than the venue will mean more in Saturday’s tie.

They are also coming up against a club at the same step on the football pyramid so they have a chance of progressing.

Even bringing Esh Winning back to Horsfall Stadium for a replay would be a positive in Sandhu’s eyes.

He added: “Everyone is looking forward to it, nobody more than me, and I have been manager here for longer than I care to remember.

“Let us hope it will be a big day for us, not just a day out in County Durham.”
