Tough times for police force staff

West Yorkshire Police is making one of the largest reductions in officers in non-frontline roles, according to a Government report.

The HM Inspectorate of Constabulary report, on whether police forces were meeting spending targets, identified West Yorkshire as having to make the third highest saving, at just under £100 million, with 70 per cent to come from savings in pay.

West Yorkshire was having to make a higher than average reduction in workforce allocated to the frontline. But overall reduction plans would result in a higher than average proportion of the remaining workforce allocated to frontline roles.
