The stars of this year’s Alhambra pantomime arrived in Bradford on a horse-drawn glass carriage making its way across the city’s Mirror Pool today.

Panto king Billy Pearce, actress Lynda Bellingham and Brendan Sheerin, the presenter of Channel 4’s Coach Trip, were aboard the carriage, to unveil this year’s panto, Cinderella.

Also in attendance were the Ugly Sisters, Brian Godfrey and Ben Stock, and Dandini, played by Afnan Iftikhar, a finalist on ITV’s Superstar.

“It’s wonderful to be back in Bradford, it feels like coming home,” said Billy. “It can be like the Big Brother house rehearsing for ten hours a day together then spending all that time together in the theatre, so it’s important to have a good team – and we have a great team this year.

“I’ll keep coming back for as long as Bradford wants me.”

Executive producer Michael Harrison revealed that special effects in this year’s show, which starts its run in December, will include Billy riding on a flying motorbike.
