Three firefighters are set to tackle the challenge of canoeing the length of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal to raise money for charity.

Mick Langdale, 22, Jack Smith, 19, and Scott Wild, 19, all retained firefighters at Skipton Fire Station, will set off from Liverpool and, after overnight stops in Wigan and Burnley, will finish at Skipton two days later.

They will be raising money for the Fire Fighters Charity, which helped Jack last year after he broke his kneecap when he fell in a stream while fell running.

“I did physio with the charity and they got me back to full fitness,” said Jack, who has been training with Mick and Scott since June. “It something we’d talking about and we wanted a big challenge.”
