Police mount CCTV appeal as hunt goes on for Bradford pensioner's murderer
CCTV images were today released by police of the last known movements of a Bradford pensioner who was found murdered in his home.
A £5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and a conviction of the person or persons reponsible for the murder of Clement Desmier, 68, has also been offered by Crimestoppers.
The body of Mr Desmier, who was known locally as Butch, was discovered by concerned neighbours at his home in Rowlestone Rise, Greengates , last Thursday afternoon.
The property had been ransacked.
A post-mortem examination later revealed that the pensioner died of multiple injuries.
At a press conference this afternoon, Detective Superintendent Mark Ridley, who is leading the murder hunt, said: "Seven days on from the day of Mr Desmier’s death, we have released CCTV footage in the hope it will jog people’s memory and encourage further information about his movements.
"We know that Mr Desmier left his home on Wednesday, August 22, with a good friend to visit a local farm shop, before returning home around 11am.
"He then made his way into Shipley town centre around noon where we believe he visited the bank and did some shopping, as captured within the CCTV.
"I am extremely keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information who could assist in our inquiry.”
* A 30-year-old man arrested in connection with the inquiry was last night released without charge.
Anyone with information should call the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Information can also be sent via text to a special Police SMS service on 07786 200805.
